Best place to do a dyno run and get a tune? SOR
Hey guys, I've got a 2001 N/A Forester (I know I know.... ) and I'd like to get it tuned and do a couple of dyno runs to see how it performs in numbers (or doesn't perform). Like I said, it's a stock N/A EJ20 and I want to start doing some work on it and I need a bench mark to refer to at a later date when I re-dyno after mods.
Later down the track I might do a turbo engine swap, but for now I stuck with N/A. So anyways, I've never done a dyno run and never had my car tuned. I'm a total virgin in this field. Where can you guys recommend (preferably SOR but I don't mind traveling) I go and get my cherry popped |

you can't tune a std ecu champ.
best option for you mate is a cat back exhaust for abit of noise, maybe POD air filter and cold air intake for minor performance gain and save the rest for when you get your next car.

I know I shouldn't blow much money trying to get power out of a N/A engine...but at the moment it's more of a project for me to teach myself before stepping up to a new engine. Money isn't an issue so much (within reason), but this is personally how I want to start off But anyhoo, I suppose this thread can be closed up now I've got a list to work from |

Big differences to how an N/a engine v's turbo engine in response to 'tweaking'.
What may work on an n/a as a tweak may 'pop' a boosted ej.... I.e CAI on an n/a = no retune, cai on a turbo = retune or start looking for a new engine! Underdrive pulleys and lighter flywheels don't require a re-tune....they remove parasitic loads off the engine....therefore allowing more usable power to reach the road.

You can advance the timing a bit, that was the basic and relatively cheap batch of mods the pulsar boys used to run on the sr. Under-drive pulley kit, Extractors and exhaust, Air box/induction Mods and then advancing the timing. Bear in mind that if you do this you will definitely have to run the 98 fuels. I managed to achieve a half decent result of 98.2kw atw with my old SSS with said mods.
