Yep, looks the goods to me. and the PPG gearbox is a massive plus.

if you assume the engine has had a tough life considering the gearbox has PPG gears (only an assumption), so factor in 4 grand into your budget for a 207 bottom end and you will be laughing.
But tell him hes dreaming on the price...

Maybe even consider an earlier model without airbags so you can modify the interior etc? but then your engine and standard gearbox are not as good from the factory..

Steve.
Thats kind of the assumption I made about the life it has had to. Lets be realistic though, nobody spends all that money on a WRX to run to the hairdressers once a month so we all know its something to be aware of.

The claim of a full service history and receipts for the work combined with another Subaru in the background makes me think this might be an enthusiasts car.

Its the seats that annoy me the most, my god what were Subaru thinking when they built a car capable of enough cornering grip to give you a hernia and then thought "Okay now lets make some seats....yep this old mattress with a weird lump you cant move right where your back should go will do....hmmm no thats far to supportive, lets make it flat at the edges to make it easier to slide around while your cornering"

I would swap for the right car!

There are some STI's about for not that much more, I guess an STI is always going to be the holy grail above a modified car unless its been done really well.

I sent a few emails to the seller of the original car, not really got any more info beyond what was in the advert...

It has Nankang tyres

And it also has anti-lag which was connected to the rear fog light switch, apparently he used it once and then never bothered with it again.

I guess I am really only looking to spend up to $25K so that would be a decent bug eye STI or something like this with money left over.

I would think you will get into a GC8 after driving around in an 06 and although it would seem faster off the bat, pretty quickly you will start to notice that its a lot louder/bumpier/smaller inside/bunkier interior and there will be wierd noises/squeaks/rattles compared to what you are used to now!
It is lighter than your GD, but even still, within a few months you will be bored of the power in the GC8 same as it seems you are now with the GD WRX.

If you really want something different, I would go with as has been suggested, a Bug STi or if you can find one within the price range, a Peanut STi...

Or... swap cars with Andy... his is nice, and he needs an upgrade!

Go drive an 05+ Sti first, then drive your choice of gc8.
