Just two things from reading this thread:

1. Cops CAN'T tell you that you can't alight from a vehicle. That's just good ol' fashioned bluff. Further, you CAN be present when they do inspections, take measurements etc. We still live in a free country .

2. Be wary when deciding to go to an inspection centre which aint ya local. Some inspectors at the "friendly" centre may well be sympathetic to your cause (they all know why u r there) but ya could get unlucky & strike one who has a whole set of fine toothed combs . At least have a good, plausible reason for going to say, Midland, when ya live in Scarbs.

Well as an update, i took it to welshpool leaving everything how it was last week, being only done for the ride height, came out needing to chnage the ridfe height, change the bov and zorst was slightly too loud. Oh and also he measured my tint, which was by the way completly standard out of the subaru factory and that was too dark by 5 percent!!!1 luckily he let that one slide.

It ended up being my exhaust that just sat too low and the guy sed raise that n u should get through. borrowed a standard exhaust off rms (much thanx) leaving the ride height n changed the bov to plumbback, and left the super low springs in. Went back to welshpool this morning and got a different guy, this guy didnt even bother checking the car, just looked at it, went under for about two secs and se nup needs to be higher. Was pissed off as hell.

So during my lunch break i took in to midland and they passed it staright away, took less then 2 minutes easy as that , also coz the guy at welshpool stuffed up the first time the invoice wasnt on the system and avoided paying the 37 bucks. So got the yellow off now while being able to leave the super lows in. My advice is, go to the midland one haha.

This came from the DPI web site http://www.dpi.wa.gov.au/licensing/1889.asp

Interesting that no where here does it mention the "100mm" rule at all.... It would be nice if SOMEONE in authority knew the bloody rules.

----------------------------------------------------------

Suspension
Modifications to be suspension system are subject to the following :

Cutting, welding, heating or bending of any suspension component is not permitted.

Any shortening or resetting of springs must be carried out by a recognised spring maker.

A vehicle must not be lowered more than 1/3 of the bump clearance originally specified by the vehicle manufacturer and the distance measured from the ground to the lower edge of the reflecting surface of the headlamp must not be less than 500mm.

Lowering of a vehicle should be equal front and rear to retain the original horizontal plane.

No part of a vehicle or accessories (except flexible mud flaps) shall project below the lower edge of a wheel rim.

I couldn't find reference to the 100mm rule, but I'm sure I've seen it somewhere.

From the new National Code of Practice NCOP

Quote:
When lowering a vehicle, the ride height of an unladen vehicle must not be changed by more than one third of the working travel of the suspension from its original height to a rigid bump or rebound position specified by the manufacturer. The suspension bump and rebound positions are measured with any deformable bump or rebound stops removed. The original relationship between the front and rear suspension heights must not be changed and therefore the front and rear suspensions must be both raised or both lowered by the same amount

dammnit i dont like being part of this club,
was done last year for excessive noise,
they thought i had mods under the hood and checked out the whole car
even though most i have even done is a little bit of retrimming?! Carpets , neons etcetera.

all it was, that i had a hole in the exhaust, i loved it it was my cheap boy racer thing.

Any who, I ended up being wrestled out of 1300 dollaroo's.

Damn government

At this ride height, oh two weeks.

Nah should be ok, its just the tint. Quieten BOV, put stock exhaust back on, raise coil overs, rip tint off, done (hopefully).
