Yeah I realised that, I was more having a go at the seller, it's probably not much different to what you'd pay for one that was damaged at Pickles here but at least you could use the fucking thing once it was fixed.

2lt Jap spec is worth more than the dak dak boom 2.5lt
we get here. Good for serious race rally as it has the "homoligated" 2lt.

So really, $10,000 seems like a good deal if you just use it as a track car.
And you may end up with spare parts for your "street" WRX. Considering that Subaru charge $910.00 for a Idle stepper motor and $235.00 for a AFM. Youve already recovered 10% for two tiny modules. Then there is other various meaningless bits. Seems better than a half cut to me....... Another question..... If people transplant an engine from any donor car or rebuild it, do they let the authorities know? Or is it just another form of "Compliance Plate Swapping" I mean as soon as you modify your car (even tyres or exhaust) you have to let your insurance company know, OR else you stand alone. I had one insurance company not claim because my tyres were not stock and I didn't notify them of the modification. Then another time I had an aftermarket exhaust(modified car apparently) and they wouldnt claim. BE AWARE!! (All depends on your assessor but read your fine print) If I Rebuilt a motor differentiating from stock specs I never even thought about notifiying the DPI...(I'm sure you're all guilty) Surely it's necessary? I think it's all Bullshit. bring on the global economy. If it's good enough for Japan. I want a Jap Spec WRX... Not a toned down Oz version |

I think you need to spend some time reading the ADRs.
rules a regs for engine swaps are in there, but is short, if you need to fill in a form for DPI which tells them you have changes engine blocks. You may need to have it emission tested now to, or is that still up in the air? there is a thread on the forum on it. also ADR are there for a reason. We may not agree with all of them but they are there to protect the community and people from themselves. http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roa...ign/index.aspx |

Homologated yes, but still basically the same internals (eg piston material) as the ADM 2.5....and still suffers from the same ringland issues as the 2.5.
