The Storm took my WRX... Engine rebuilds?
Hi Guys,
Unfortunately the Storm took my WRX away from me (Flooding of the Engine) My insurance company advised it's going to be a write-off, so now I'm stuck in a hard place. Apparently to bring it back to life would require a new / recond engine. So here are my questions; If i choose to buy it back from Insurance could I source a new Engine here (in Perth) and what would it cost to transplant / get back on the road again? (It's a 1999 WRX) Secondly, What repercussions from flooding if any would occur in the future? IE wires rusting over time etc? Thirdly, would dropping in a STI engine be possible as opposed to the equivalent one I have now? Bear in mind this is all dependant on how much the buy back cost will be (I havn't been told yet) Obviously if it's too costly (over 8 - 9k inc buy back of car) then its probably not worth it.. Cheers for the assistance, Matt P.S. I can tell this is going to turn into a heated debate Last edited by gvs; 30-03-2010 at 12:37 PM. Reason: typo |
