sweet does that come as a complete engine with intercooler, exhaust manifold, harness etc?

probably cost another $2-3k to have it put in and get a basic tune with my ECU

Nah, I rarely get my hands on anything post 2000. I'm working on getting some newer stuff but the cost in Japan isn't as cheap as you may think.
Japanese Wholesale has been (and probably still is) the best place for late model STi engines and halfcuts.

I have some half decent old EJ20T runners that have come out of customer's cars if you need a cheapie to get you by?

My (limited) search hasn't revealed anything concrete but if I were to think about dropping a dressed EJ257 into a GD (bigeye) chassis what would need to be done to fit it apart from the obvious. I understand that I can still use my gearbox but not sure if the computer could be re-flashed to suit or need an aftermarket one or a ej257 one to run it. Any useful info or links would b great to see if this a viable undertaking.

Id would be looking into a jap spec twin scroll motor. A 257 ( arguably) is a weaker motor.
Investigate a built 207 with a good turbo.
drewgong likes this.

Where could I find a really low km 207 then? I understand that they have a reputation to be a stronger motor but the idea of dropping in a torquey 2.5l sti motor with basic mods is still appealing.

Decided to keep the bug and get the RS40 aswell or not getting it now?

Speak to Kris @ rising sun about the half cut as he'll have plenty of options or just buy a new ADM 207 short block and other goodies to go with it.
