I was under the impression that the EJ207 was first released, both JDM and exported afterwards in the 01 sti? All were 205's prior to that including sti's RA's, S201's etc etc? (Happy to be proven otherwise)..

As said above, will be quite different to the 05 sti motor...

IMO a std 05 sti would outperform a V5 sti in every aspect...But if your going for the exclusivity of the 2dr then fair enough..

I disagree, from my experience at motorplex the v5 will out perform the 05 in a straight line with the same mods..

Std for std I think the V5's were good for low 13's (on average) and the 05 sti maybe mid 13's?

In every other comparison I'd rather be in an 05 sti.

Ej207 was from Version 5 onwards STI (9/1998).

Ej205 is Wrx non-forged (9/98 on in Aus)

They were EJ20G & K before that.

But stock for stock, I'd choose a 05 sti..

Modded for modded, probably start with an 05 sti as well..

pick of the litter, i'd prefer the 05 sti, better hubs, brakes, diffs, engine and gearbox.

unless you planned to own the car for the long term (ie, park it in the shed) i'd buy a 2 door.
