Default V5 Sti's

Hey guys, been looking at a few 2DR V5 Sti's...had an 05 sti previously before which is now sold. Been doing a bit of research on these cars and really like the shape and performance they put out...

Whats the pro's and con's on the V5 Sti's, do they have weak motors? weak boxes? have people had troubles etc...

would love to get some advice.

cheers

5 speed might let you down if used hard but you can always
upgrade to a 6 speed anyway.

Best of luck with the search mate!

engine is a 207 so happy times. The heads will take more boost than vanilla model wrx's. vf28 turbo standard. Usual 5 speed gearbox issues but this is solveable a few different ways.

With a zaust, ecu, silicone intake, fuel pump expect to see approx 195kw's at the wheels and running mid 12's.

V5/V6 = same/same as far as driveline goes.

Mine has 230,000 km on it, original engine (simple mods, as per my sig) & original G/box.

Rear diff is begining to get a little tired but otherwise she's pretty sweet.

If they're kept stock then they should go the distance, problem is when modified like all WRX's the gearbox can become an issue.

My recommendation would be to just buy one that's already been worked, perhaps been rebuilt with a 6 speed STI gear box.

mines done 165k on origional motor and box making 190kw atw (mods for last 20k only), the box doesnt feel the best anymore but aslong as its not beaten to death it will go on.. and last pwrx drag night i went on it had alot less mods than the newer sti's it was beating down the strip.. also you get the cool fact of having 2 doors..
