And how many extra cars are there on the road now since 2002? Did they include that in the review?

As a last resort they could always try the driver education route.

Purely a revenue raising issue.

Double demerit weekends are when there are more traffic on designated holiday highway routes. Set up a couple of speed traps and voilla more revenue.

I'd like the governement to show a map of fatality/major accident spots that resulted in exceeding the posted speed limit versus where they place speed traps and visible police.

Chucking a police car along the highway at a major crash point with lights flashing away would slow more traffic than some hidden speed camera.

But kato dont you see the fact that there is a speed camera has saved lives... even if there was never any fatalities there beforehand.

Or hidden police cars in light traffic areas.....

Observed a marked car in Osborne park Yesterday parked behind a brick power box in a driveway.....Very cleaver, or would have been if the road they were parked on was Scarborough bch rd. But no, they were parked up on O'malley St....A Street that has no traffic on a Saturday afternoon....They were there for 1 & 1/2 hours & didn't stop a single car. Well done for wasting my money chumps.

Must have been Operation: park up & pretend to do something.

Scarborough Beach Road too scary?

Since this is a 80 zone it is prime area to make dollars.... I mean save lives by stopping these reckless fiends.

In my time waiting, they pulled over 19 cars. 19 lives saved on a wide, straightish and general safe road on a crystal clear day. There was at least 3 bikes running - just further up from my pic they had a merc pulled over.

Meanwhile, someones house is being done over, shoplifters run riot, someone got bashed, maybe even raped.

So two things really.

1 - if you drive that stretch of road at ANY time stick to 80! They have moved on from their early run policy of waiting around at 5/6/7am.

2 - if you happened to be the driving/passenger of the black R32 4 door that GATED the cop while he had a Patrol pulled over, causing him to shit his pants and run after you.. two things - 1 you got away and 2 - PM me cos I am buying you a drink. I have not laughed that hard in fucking ages.

The ONLY thing they achieved by being there was making money.

Its pathetic, and I pray its only a matter of time that those who have been brainwashed by the "speed kills" media will wake up and realise its not quite the case.

In reference to point one from memory either the West Australian or Sunday Times writes a report every now and then 'or maybe it depends on the news relevant to that news week?'.

Point two definately agree with, even to some point I disagree with Rosco. Fair enough they are being sly by hiding around corners though I would much prefer to receive a speeding ticket from an officer then I would from technology that has proven to give false readings many times over! 'at least then general society can physically see their tax dollars at work'.

"Remember the 180 Datsun that was claimed to have been going 180kmh's on the freeway, and tests proved it was barely capable of going past 100kmh's?"

There are always cops with hand helds on the Ascott Racepark side of Garret Road whom have parked their patrol car out of site and lean their radar gun against the thick electrical poles hiding every other visiable part behind them, and there are certain spots along the Polly Farmer Freeway which are favourite police hand held metaphorical sniper areas.

Shits me that this is legal as it just verifies that its more about revenue then safety.

Funny thing is when we all get older and our kids are starting to drive we will become one of the older generation saying the more prompts they put in place to punish drivers for breaking the law, the better.

Time delayed oxymorron much?

Exactly! I think we should implement a national filter, that's imposed by the car manufacturers.

It's proof that watching your speedo instead of watching the road is more dangerous than a few kms over the limit.
