In short if you have a gd running an intake without a tune thats asking for trouble.

Needs a tune.

Or in turn, give me your car keys, Ill bomb it up with mods for you, no tune, then take it for a drive like I do rental or defence cars...

Alterations to the air a car 'sees', needs attention.

Brent.

To the OP, you are not being had, if you wish to do the mod please do not make a thread on "Why has my car stopped?"

No dramas man. The new gen's (01-on) are super-sensitive to air-flow changes, so even a pod filter without getting the car retuned can leave you with some real dramas.

I can categorically inform you that when I fitted a process west cold air in guard intake, that I had to raise the airflow curves on my power fc by UP TO 30% in some areas to keep my 11.9:1 afr's @ 1.6 bar.

it's all about laminar flow/ turbulence reduction in the intake.

Damos 99 CG wouldn't climb my driveway with the same intake & a stock ecu.

A good rule of thumb is: ANYTHING that directly effects engine airflow requires a tune tweak to remain safe long term.

I had a cold air intake on my car 03 rex for about 6 months without a tune and never had only problems, can really say that i saw and benefit in performance though.

Default Agreed Needs a tune!

I had Process West CA for a few months without tune and except for "hearing the air sucking real hard" I did not notice much performance difference. Then I had 3 inch Turbo back exhaust fitted and Verso Tuned by All Star Garage and got a massive difference in performance - gained 48 Hp.

Tuning is not cheap and is better value if you fit a number of mods all at once and then pay for the tuning.
Doing one thing at a time is more expensive.

Cheers Tim
