Exclamation Smashed Rex

Hi guys,

Well I had a great start to the new financial year, while I was the the pub Friday night celebrating the end of financial year, I got a phone call from the boys in blue that the Rex had been involved in a serious accident while parked at the Gelndalough train station.

So this is the damage...

Her car

Full album here... Wrecked REX pictures by endlesshysteria - Photobucket

The only red 2009 WRX in Perth (that I am aware of ) And this happens to her.

Here is the kicker, L plater, no qualified driver with her and the coppers were nice enough to let me know that she had lost her license 2 days earlier, FANTASTIC! So it is looking like it is going to have to go on my insurance and I will chase her up, no big deal really, I can live with that.

You can see from the pictures that her car is buggered and you can see the twist in the chassis and how it has basically caved in, not pretty.

While I love my Rex to bits, to be totally honest, I don't want her back. Check out the photos and you can see the damage to the rear right and front left wheels and also how far forward the rear right was shunted. She has hit the Rex so hard she has done a 180 spin, up a curb and ended up about 10 metres down the road!

She will never drive or look the same again and I will always know. When it comes to resale I will suffer badly for an accident that wasn't my fault!

I am hoping you guys can help me out a little bit firstly, to me it looks like a write off, what do you guys think? The cosmetic damage is bad but it really is the suspension and chassis that will determine it. From the picture of hers and the 180 spin I would think it would have fairly bad chassis damage.

Also I have a choice of repairer best thing to come out of it really! So I am looking for a friendly WRX repairer that will put the TRUE cost of repair in as a quote and have no issues with writing it off, even if it costs me a little bit more to increase the price

So what do you guys think?

Cheers,
Nick.

From my experience of doing insurance work that will be a write off. If the chassis rails arnt bent, then usually it just the suspension and diff/cradle assembly. Usually the mechanicle ends up being alot cheaper than the panel and paint work.

Wowzers.

Wtf were they doing in a carpark at that speed to cause that much damage.

Methinks you'll be getting a cheque off the insurance company.

She was parked on the street At Glendalough it's the only place to park and usually there are hundreds of others around. Just so happens it was 9pm and I hadn't picked her up at the normal 6pm when everyone else is around.

Inexperienced driver is how it has happened. Wet road and T junction and she has misjudged it and slammed into the Rex. If the car wasn't there, she would have taken out the house!

Cheers guys, I really am hoping for a write off as she will never be the same again!

Can you rip the knock sensor off it, thanks

Seriously - that is very unlucky.

P.S you would want to hope its not the only red 09 in Perth - my mate had one, we raped it stupid, it caught fire once....

MY11 looking like the winner for sure! Just need a helpful repairer to write her off. Looking at leasing also so the accident could have a few benefits!

She did take it well, shows the accidents a rex can get into I guess...

Teejay, maybe it was mine and maybe she was meant to get hit

Is the roof creased on the Magna?

I'd be devastated if that was my WRX?
