So why do I need a fuel oil seperator? And what is it?

AOS

Air oil seperator.

Keeps oil from entering your inlet and becoming part of the combustion process = ping = dead motor

air from the crank case and the heads is ventes back into the intake which contains some oil vapour. That is normail.
Too much oil in that air is not good and AOS returns the oil from that air back into crankcase and the purified air into the intake.
Doean't happen too oftwn as far as I know.

Happens more so during track days or if running a decent amount of boost (>1.5bar), the problem is made 1000 times worse if you are in the habit of even slightly overfilling the engine oil level.

I'm not a fan of recycling blowby oil back to the sump (it contains too much in the way aromatic distilites), the blow by condensate that ends up in my catch can has a distinct green tinge to it, my sump oil is golden...... I don't want that green crap going back in.

P.s If you fit a catch can make sure it has a filtering media or some form of baffle inside......you need something to cause swirl inside the can to drop the oil out of suspension in the gasses.....

BATHROOM SPEC = Where all photos of good quality aftermarket parts should be taken. And if you go TINO STYLE you must be naked when taking said photos of polished parts...
