When I first got here from NZ that drove me insane. I used to always click the trigger and wash windows etc. Used to doing it this way now nut it still bugs me from time to time though.

Yep, straight in at 12 o'clock = no go.
Fully in & turn 90 degrees to 3 o'clock = max flow with no issues - GC8, '97 Outback & old gen1 Lib.

Yeah I do this, but some of the petrol station attendants switch your pump off and yell at you on the loud speaker until you remove it! Lol

whats the issue with doing it?

My reasoning is... all mine sites I've been to still have the catch enabled. If there was any safety issue at all the mines would have them disabled. Unless it's petrol specific? Mine sites only use diesel.

Pretty sure the reason they remove the catches is so you can't set it on then go back in the car and pick up a static charge and then go back to the nozzle and get a static spark causing a fire.

Chance of it happening are pretty slim but it has happened as seen on every one of the caught on camera disaster shows. Guess in the world of public liability no one is prepared to take a chance anymore.
