Think I passed you earlier this week on Lesmurdie rd near Welshpool rd... remember the car from the gumtree ads.

Good luck to you though, really keen to see how this works out. Planning on doing the same sort of swap in future so will be following closely!

Scratches/Cuts are WAY too deep to even think about machining out.

Honestly - cheaper for them to respray.

COULD attempt to wet sand then re-polish. But for that time and effort, I imagine a respray would be cheaper.

You could try buying some silver paint and carefully paint it into the scratch with a very fine brush/finger/cotton bud then wet & dry it back to the original paint level with some 1500 then 2000 then polish, might work and won't hurt if it doesn't

I have a feeling the cut's go right down to the metal- the guy i bought it off had no idea wat he was doing!
However i just touched up some scratches on my mum's mitsubishi 380, the OEM touch-up paint for her car is a pretty close match to the silver that the RX is (i did a little nick on my rear bar to test) so i will give pimpreza's idea a go... like you said if it doesent work i'll just get it resprayed anyway from the guy TJ recomended

Does anyone know if 09 wrx rims will fit over 97 gc8 Sti calipers?
I just want a nice affordable wheelset for this build until I start on the body work/aesthetics of the car
Cheers

Yep will fit as long as they are wrx (non-sti) rims. 05+STI has a different stud pattern.

Cheers mate,
Yeah I checked the stud pattern- its 5 X 100 so will fit, I was just worried about caliper clearance

Any wrx wheels from 97 onwards will clear 4 pots.
