I really like the darker grey.
I was toying with that idea, but you need a bonnet scoop for the tmic so that kind of blows the sleeper look...

I won't be doing much/any body work for a while though...

Thats a good start.

I had unfortunate dealings with them some time ago, and thus encourage anyone who goes there to ensure they are protected.

That's no good, they were helpful to me and I was satisfied with the compression test & seeing it running.
If anything happens to go wrong with it, what sort of protection should I try and seek out? I suppose it's too late now, but if you wouldn't mind pm'ing me with your experience and any advice on how to approach it if something go's wrong that would be greatly appreciated TJ.

Haha I am more than happy to write publicly what happened.

Popped a 1j in my Cressida whilst trying to crack 300kph. Car went to workshop, motor removed, diff removed and box removed, car placed on jack stands.

Replacement motor purchased, asked about warranty, told no problem if there is an issue.

Fit motor, fire it up, runs for 20 seconds, coughs, dies. 1J are non interference motors, yet it bent every single valve in the motor.. god knows how.

Contact made, situation explained. Told no motors in stock but some are coming so need to wait a couple of weeks.

Contacted two weeks later, told since I was "driving my car around and blew the motor up" no warranty would be given. Total and utter lie, I would swear on my mothers life that car had never moved or was in a position to.

Took another 7 weeks to resolve the issue, finally came down to a very angry phone call.

You are ahead of the game because you tested and saw the thing running.

My experience soured my opinion, but that should not drive others into changing their own thoughts.

Cheers for that tj,
& Yeah that is poor form from them, who at kyp did you deal with out of interest?
I'm assuming you ended up getting a motor or money back from them in the end, albeit after a shit-fight.
I'm pretty confident engine is good, just hoping transmission is also peachy

10/03/12
Dropped into the workshop to chat about possibly picking up STi struts off of another member on here to throw on the RX....the consensus was YES!
This was the first time the STi engine had seen the inside of the RX's engine bay for a mock-up test.

12/03/12
Before I attacked them with some elbow grease & a clean cloth (got most of the black off and the red now pop's!)

Back into the workshop to deliver the '99 STi struts and the engine and transmission is in!
The guys threw the struts on whilst I was there and will now be moving onto interior(dash) & all of the wiring.
All things going smoothly I may be driving it by the weekend -can't wait!

Too easy dude.
My build thread is here; http://www.perth-wrx.com/vb/your-dri...oject-sti.html
Gathering a few parts at moment and saving cash for paint etc. hoping to pick up the pace soon.

Thread is awesome mate!!!
Very jealous of km's!!!! 31XXX is crazyness!
Mine has triple that! But I plan on driving it daily with conservative mods whilst at uni & working part time(3yrs)- once I start earning decent coin I want to rebuild it similar to Rosco's engine and throw 2 bar at it as a track day/weekender

Also anyone reading this I'm after a cheap ECU if anything is going:
