It is very much budget at the moment, but, as im also in the position of needing a place to live with my misses, budget is the main thing, and a wrx seems like a nice upgrade from the S14 i had. It was a nice car, but the age made it the sort of thing that needs money thrown at it. I will not be doing any mods on the wrx for a good year or so, Again, Budget.

But im happy with that, and im happy with getting a WRX than spending much more than i have and can get on a car

Have you driven any yet Glen? Take a few examples for a drive...

02 STI
03-04 STI
05 WRX

IMO the stock wrx and sti drive very differently...after you drive them you will probably have a better idea of what you like?

Maybe I have missed it, but lots of talk of something needs to be in budget, but no budget price listed?

That would really help people find suitable cars for you.

Agreed.
Not really going to do any better on a budget of $20k.

The advertised MY05 you're linking are just shy of 20k.

The 02 sti's for sale are just shy of 20k.

Just by a 1-2k RX and spend 20k on a conversion.
Kato, Master D, TROLLEY and 2 others like this.

I do plan to take some for a drive, thanks everyone for the constructive critisism, im not trying to go against anyone, just taking all info in, trying to work it into my budget and likes. I do really like the look of the black wrx, it looks different to me, and different is good. I do plan to drive some whilst in Perth, so, obviously if it feels like a slushy slug, then im not going to spend $20 000, just because im there. I won't make a rushed descision but i do quite like the look of it, and feel i won't need the extra's of an STI. Hopefully Subaru have made a nice car of the WRX

just an out of the blue question, 2004 my05 wrx, Cruise control?

Just make sure you take an sti for a drive too. Chalk and cheese. Im sure someone here will give you a lap in a sti with a tune aswell. Will blow you away compared to a wrx. Also cruise nicely too.
