Default Best all round tyre for 16" rim

Looking to get some new tyres but there are so many to choose from. Any recommendations. Want something that is grippy in the wet and gets decent mileage. Looking at spending $250 - 270 per tyre.

Grippy may not = long life, what do you have you eye on.

I actually saw this Gumtree ad earlier this evening, 4x Kumho KU31 in 205/50/16 for $520 in Lockridge: http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/lockridge/wheels-tyres-rims/4-x-205-50-16-r-87w-kumho-ku31-tyres/1017050598

My last set of shoes were Toyo TEO Plus, got about 90,000kms out of them over 2.5 years. They were great in the dry and surprisingly good in the wet.

Currently rolling a set of Kumho KU31s, great in the dry but you can feel the understeer trying to unleash in the wet.

Kumho KU36 might be within your budget for maximum grip

Ku36 are a semi slick, they are shit in the wet. The ku31 are ment to be the better choice in wet and dry for kuhmos.

Default 16 inch tyres

16" tyres I have known

First on the were the Subaru supplied Bridgestones, ok but life a bit short.
Then Falken ST115, ok but now superseded.
Then Goodyear Revspec, one had a hole but good otherwise. discontinued.
Goodyear GD.3. these were ok but noisy, I am told as are all slating groove tyres.
I would have thought that style would have gripped better on corners but, well good for sideways if that is what you want.
Federal 595 (as above) a fair quality low price tyre but noisy even on a straight flat road.
Michelin PS3, after 6 months definitely the best. and- cheaper than your price target.

Bridgestone RE002

Lots of grip to be had. If I was still running a street tyre, that's what I'd run.
