I killed my 5 speed without even trying and that was with me babying it most of the time. I now have a 6speed and I will say I have not been gentle and it still ain't broken yet,

5-7k all up depending on what you get, and how cheap the box is.
Labour is between 1-2k The box and associated parts are 3.5-5.5k Keep an eye on the forums for a box. Also worth contacting the wreckers (JWS etc), but usually they want a bit more. Your 5spd should do ok for a while provided you watch your changes and clutch usage. I've been doing events with sticky tyres and ~280hp ath and haven't busted my 5spd yet. That said, I've binned a 5spd back when I had standard power, doing something stupid. I got my dccd 6spd for 3500 off the forums, so it's def worth waiting for one to pop up at a good price. Launching usually won't bin a gbox, it's normally the changes that get you in a bad spot.

Also consider whether you are going to replace the clutch and machine / replace the flywheel too.
