It's worth remembering that the handbrake will disengage the centerdiff.

Lol nice...actually I've never tried handbrake cornering my STI yet...think I was a bit scared of what might happen lol ...perfect timing for this tip, looking forward to that track day now

I leave it in auto 99.9% of the time even on the track.. easier to do skids imo

Mine doesn't skip/"chirp" in auto only if you select the dccd from green to lock - on slow tight turns or reverse.

Assuming you have coilovers?

Also it only happens at round abouts like full pressure on the front left tyre with standard struts the whole weight of the car goes on that shaft...and DCCD centre diff tries to compensate hence the big jerk.

With coilovers it sits rather flat and you won't get the same type of jerk as diff doesn't have to work like that, weight is evenly distributed.

EDIT: only happens when trying to floor it through a round about like 180 turn or 360, going with much more speed than usual(like ~45-50km/hr and trying to maintain that speed) then in the apex of the turn the weight of the whole car transfers completely to the left front as it relies on this tyre alone to control the grip as the other ones don't have enough weight/road contact...you get a front/back jerk/skip in the car and it throws you off a bit, almost makes you think that the car is going to lose grip or skip over to the next lane

Now that you've explained it like that it doesn't sound normal to me.

Shouldn't make a peep when cornering at that speed in auto mode.

DCCD is front to rear distribution only, it doesn't have any yaw distribution to individual wheels. Your theory of coilovers having an effect on this makes no sense. On auto it's pretty smooth and I don't think it would ever go full 65/35 distribution so I doubt you'd notice it.

With stock struts in my 05 I never got any DCCD knocking in auto. Even in lock the knocking is at the centre diff not individual wheels

Get it checked out

Mine doesn't so this, but compared to when I got it it's now an orchestra of rattles, clunks, shudders and knocks.. It drove me crazy for over a year trying to work it all out and make it civil again but I've grown to accept it as a mish mash of mods and hard floggings. Ive always thaught damaged front cv from dodgy launches but I've had them inspected by 3 different workshops and they all say they are fine.. I'll prob replace them some time next year just for peace of mind

Is it normal to feel a judder/jerk type movement when there's load on the front left tyre?

What I mean by load is taking a round about(like 180 or full 360 around it) with a bit of speed for example, when the weight/force of the turn is on that wheel.
I'm getting like a judder (back/forth jerk) when I do that and wondering if that's normal with DCCD or is that showing a problem in the CV joint (might have clipped a curb at some point a while back).
I can probably describe that judder like a hesitation, think of it like you're touching and releasing the brakes through that corner, not enough to slow you down but enough to make you feel back and forth in the seat.

It only happens when I go right(clockwise) but not when I go left. Also only happens with roundabout type turns.

I went in an empty parking lot, went full lock right 2nd gear around 30-40 km/hr gets the jerk/judder... I tried going anticlockwise full lock left and no jerk/judder.

Dealer said it's normal with DCCD STis, any idea if it's not normal for this to happen?

I had the tyre shop redo the alignment, had car yard check for any signs of damage, there's none, also readjusted the sway bar/endlinks at tyre shop to be centred, didn't make any difference to this.
Dealer said its normal with the DCCD in these cars at low speed, but when I said that it happens with some speed in turns, they said next thing would be to open the cv boot and have a look.
I don't think I would have damaged a shock with a tiny tap on a curb?? would have to be cv joint if its not a normal thing with 06/07 STi's...I am running stock shocks on Eibach springs

Help!

EDIT: Tried on every DCCD setting too from Auto to green square, same

Even Sti's aren't designed with kerb tapping in mind. As mentioned get it checked properly, especially with a track day coming up.

I might have "tiny tapped" mine on a kerb once, hard impact, all 4 wheels airborne styles.. but I'm not sure, I was waay too drunk too remember properly.. had to replace hub.
