Yeah mate. Just had to replace a few little clips on the rear, new front bumper insert and a bit of massaging on the front bumper and it was all fine.

I honestly recon its the cleanest example of a V6 STi in Aus. There is not a single mark on the paint of the car.
[/QUOTE] I beg to differ, mine has no marks on it either and only 40000km on the clock... |

Getting back to the thread, i think it really depends.
Only reason I own a Version 6 is because i was an early 80s child and grew up in the 90s. I followed the rally scene in the 90s and fell in love with the version V when it came to Australia. The following year the Version VI was released. I managed to acquire the Version 6 subaru poster and fell in love with it. Being 18 years old, i didnt have the $62,999 asking price at the time. 10 years later, I got the car and will forever be my teenage dream car.... If you dont have them emotional connections I probably would go for the newer car, being more refined and having a stronger engine. In saying that, there is something about a rattly, tinny GC8 that the newer cars just dont give you.... what it is, i dont know. Im sure many other GC8 enthusiasts will agree.

My story is similar as above ^^^
Born late 70's, watched the rally in the 90's, got my P's and saw an early GC8 WRX hammer past me at warp speed and I said to my mate "I gotta have one". 2005 and I found the GC8 I have now (only a WRX, not STI), and I'll never sell it - I'll keep it until I die or it dies, which ever occurs first. |

Im lucky enough to have access to both, i brought my gc8 in 1999 and she has followed me to oz, recent gd implant, love it too bits and will keep forever, brought my wife an my12 sti sedan, again lovely car alot 'safer' than the gc but not quite the same feeling if u get what i meen.
In the end its personal choice, long live the classic i say and so do many others 😜
