Bram - did that TD05-18g have a ball bearing cartridge though? (ie. XT vs XTR).

No. TD0x series turbos are a plain bearing core. The Blouch TD05-18g-XT has the Mitsubishi CHRA. But has the billet XT compressor wheel.

The TD05 was stronger in the midrange, even though it was slower to get spinning. But at the top of the rpm range the dom2.5 was better.

The reason I ask is because Blouch do offer XTR/ball bearing TD05's (not doubting the Dom series are better turbos).

This is my turbo: Subaru WRX/STi 20G-XT-R Turbocharger

I know they've been doing them for years. But thats not realy a proper TD05.

Also. The so called TD05-20G-XT-R's make less power, and flow less air than the thier standard TD05-20G-XT.

I am only really looking for 350-400 ATW.......
The lack of speed can then be made up for with bravery in the corners....

Currently 262 ATW 630NM

When turbo companies quote horsepower figures for their turbos, it's almost always crank figures. If you want 400hp, you'll probably want a 500hp turbo (if you attribute drivetrain loss at around 20%).

I was hoping for 380 with my new build but I think my turbo will be at its limits at 350. Now I'm just aiming to get it as responsive as possible, with as broad a powerband/torque curve as I can squeeze out of it.

Company's like blouch and garrett quote thier turbos horsepower potential purely on the volume of air the turbo can flow. And yes, crank horse power.

Mind you, with some of the hub dynos over-reading by a bit, 380-400 hub horsepower might be achieveable, lol.
