I'll get my filter off the car, and i'll even go to the point of cleaning it and re-oiling it, as NEW...so there is no fudging involved.

urg, you proove yourself to be more stupid every day

THE CAR WILL RUN WITHOUT THE AFM..

so even with it reading incorrectly it will run, it will stall out ocasionally, but it will run

whoever stuck your filter on must be a fuckwit, and porked something else up in the process, as even if the afm is FUCKED and not working, the car WILL run, i know this to be true because mine porked itself, it still ran..

so your whole though process of the pipe length and distance causing issues is utter rubish.. it can however cause issue witht he air turbulance, more a common problem in the nissna stuff as you can effectivly straight line the intake path and it looses that turbulance that the car needs ot get a correct AMF reading..

either way, your full of it..
