i've got one of them flares too.

does the jdm leggos have electric folding mirrors and/or heater mirrors like the old school leggos? if so u could flog them off for a pretty penny.
no doors on the cut Fred! looks like one of the Bilsteins was damaged.. anyone want one front bilsten strut ? heh

MY00GX 19-01-2007 02:44 PM

You and I are doing basically the same thing
I got a GX and put wing and skirts on it
Only difference is your going to have a turbo engine, and im just sticking with the n/a atm
All i need is a front end, so if u have a spare one, let us know mate
well good luck mate

fred: was trying to get an 02sti, but there was the little problem of the $10k price difference :( still, for half the price ive got brembos, dual AVCS, twinscroll, brand new 4.11 box.. halfway there i guess. should still rip a mean skid too!

Also the JDM 06 leggy is a bit of an unknown. rumours of semi closed deck etc, but there can't be a huge market for them, so the cut was a bit cheaper than the equivalent age WRX

MY00GX 19-01-2007 03:57 PM

cheers mate

omfg 10k! leggos dont come with brembos!?

when did DUAL AVCS come out? and wats the diff?

jEstEr? 21-01-2007 08:13 PM

nah they don't have Brembos, yet!

dual avcs: most scoobys come with AVCS on the inlet cam only, new STIs and Legacys have it on the exhaust now too. more power / torque etc.

ok so today was all about ripping the loom out so we could start splicing. got the dash out last week and so this is what we had to start with today

the dash support bar came out quite easily, its mounts literally had crumbled due to the accident. then came the tedious but necessary job of tagging & unclipping all the plugs from behind the dash. off came the wheel, out came the steering column. stace started unplugging shit at the front and i worked "in" the car.

i swear I took a pic of the finished product but it wasn't on my camera? anyway, out came the heater box assembly & fan. they got turfed due to being half broken and infested throughout with splinters of glass! While i was plugging away at that, stace ripped out the bonnet latch (rooted anyway) and the radiator, which although its almost brand new, has a hole in the top tank =( anyone got a good cheap wrx rad ?

check out the dual AVCS cams. booyah. also note the heat shielding on the plastic undertray!

started removing the pedals & assemblies... notice anything missing ?

some bastard stole my accelerator pedal! anyone got a drive by wire accelerator pedal? hehe. dropped the clips & unbolted the brake pedal, clutch took a little more persuasion but out it came too.

here is a quick look at the stock turbo & IC setup on the legacy motor. nice short path straight out the turbo into the cooler. FMIC lag ? eat your heart out! also checkout that intake manifold.. its plastic! I'll replaced that gear soon enough with STI gear.

then we cleaned up and put the halfcut away for now...

while i was at it with the camera, i decided to take some photos of some essential tools you will need for this sort of job..

first is this handy ratchet... it operates like a normal ratchet, but you can also turn the handle! awesome for hard to reach spots and no need to fuck around with spanners.

loooong nose pliers, great for undoing (and when they dont cooperate, ripping out ) the little bastard plastic mounts that hold the loom in.

big fuckoff screwdrivers!

good quality ratchets, masking tape for labeling bits of loom, side cutters for convincing parts to come out, ratchet screwdriver with torx heads for the steering wheel ... and caffeine!

Having a stace who has done it before also makes things a lot easier =)

hopefully more soon

joshg123 24-01-2007 11:31 PM

Much change from the 'old days' of swapping mazda bov's so you could get flutterz on the 323.

BTW, that fuckoff screwdriver, yeah its bent :)
