another update
STI intercooler installed, and a took to the stock GC/GF shroud with my fancy new dremel. the STI intercooler dwarves the stock cooler and the shroud is obviously just as small. I made a template of the shroud in cardboard and started measuring up against the sti intecooler. i did take photos of all the steps but its pretty boring as its just a piece of cardboard. anyway, i cut a lot of metal out the way and bent bits down to make new fins directing the air down to the cooler. the stock rubber bit from the shroud clips back in at the rear of the cooler to completely surround it Now fuel surge, you may remeber i had a weteye about it a while ago, half a tank of fuel wasn't enough for an AHG (er i mean RAC) skidpan day, so i needed to do something. I've got plenty of things to spend my money on so can't quite afford an external surge tank just yet, but i came across a cheaper version of the STI intake fuel surge thingy. This is the STI version, and it retails for $1,990 from MRT on rs25 i found a link to this : http://www.ludicrous-speed.com/wiki/...fuel_slosh_mod Essentialy its making your own STI intank fuel surge kit with a model aircraft fuel tank. the cost of the fuel tank? $18.50. Worth giving it a go then eh? In the instructions they say to grab the 32oz tank, so i did that from http://www.perthrc.com.au/ There is a few how-to's and they always say they got a smaller tank (26oz) as the 32oz was never in stock. I think it works out to be 950cc. anyway, its too fucking big and hardly fits in the fuel tank. here is my sexy gloves and fuel tank pop out the stocko fuel pickup here is the stock 'anti surge' device and you can see why its just shockingly crap. its a metal basin the fuel sock sits in and fuel is free to just slosh over the sides here is the stock fuel assembly in all its glory. note the little plastic funnel looking thingy above the fuel pump, thats a "jet pump" that sucks fuel over from the other side of the tank and is also the fuel return from the engine bay. the trick is to pump this back into the box so the sock always has fuel measuring up the kit, the lump at the rear is what fucks you later when you are trying to get it back into the tank cut a hole big enough to just cram the fuel sock in on a weird angle now the rc fuel tank sits over the sock and won't move very far, but just to secure it properly i drilled a small hole in the stock bracker, and forced a screw into it to tap a thread through it. you erally should remove the pump and sock for this, but i was far too lazy and just wrapped it up in rags. oh yeah, do the whole procedure in a well ventilated area... add a few spaces so the pump doesn't just sit on the bottom, and you are ready to rock here is the whole assembly ready to go, a bit of fuel line tagged off the return thingy back into the surge tank. the yanks tend to use a cable tie here, but fuck that. metal clamps all the way. note the 3 holes on the drivers side for picking up fuel here is the rear section i needed to remove to get the assembly into my tank. i hope to god i don't ever have to remove it also, finally, took the car to ASG and slapped on a second hand 3" turbo back exhaust. i still plan on getting a custom dump pipe and siq exhaust but the twinscroll gear is a different flange so it will have to wait. Sean retuned the car, boost bumped from 1.05 to 1.1 or so barz, and lot of work on the snap throttle sections of my map, as flatshifting was scaring the motec. Old numbers are from the old gearbox, new with the doggy. Power rose from 196hp to 220hp and torque jumped from 250 to 311nm. Still fuckall, but the oldgirl definately gets up and boogies. Stock boost control was giving sean the shits so in the future I will get the mac or prodrive or denso etc boost controllers, but in the mean time i am nearly ready for collie.

Great write up, hope it works for you.
Couldn't find those tanks on that RC site to save myself though.
