Bung, hard luck mate.

Sounds like you ran out of grip trying to stop in the first video

Cheers,

I pulled it apart today, nothing broken. The shift rail for 1-2 was in first gear but the selector arm was left behind in the neutral position between the 3-4 and 5-R shift rails. Had it not been raining and had it been important (ie; in an event of some kind) I could have rectified it it the car by pulling the detent ball and spring out of the side of the gearbox and using a thin screwdriver pushed the rod back into the right position. Still, there needs to be something done so it doesn't happen again. I've seen an aftermarket selector rod interlock fitted to PPG boxes before, I think it may actually be made by Pfitzner but there's no reason it won't fit this box, and stop it ever happening again.

phew! i bet matt was happy to hear that!

http://www.ppgearbox.com.au/page.asp...1&productid=66

its pretty much indentical to the ones the other two major players make and afaik the interlock and shift forks are all interchangable between them.

the only thing which is still not made (rather improved) is a better shift rail. once you strengthen one thing the next weak link will break.....

^^^ Yeah, that's the one I've seen in PPG boxes. As you said all the shift rails are Subaru parts so there's no reason it won't fit with the Albins set.
I'll make a call tomorrow and see what they want for them.

So went to the drags tonight. Pretty unimpressed with my time, but I guess thats to be expected.

First run, lets figure out what she'll do. Shabby launch gives me a 2.3 seconds 60' and I net a 13.810 @ 100.33mph
Second run, an almost shabby launch and i select 3rd with the shifter in neutral. SIIIIGH NOT AGAIN. After a few phone calls (dougt <3) and one of the boys from work coming down with some tools (thanks Greg!) we pull the 3-4th spring out, pop it out of gear, put it all back together again and roll back out to the strip.
Next run was my "best" of the night, netting a 13.7 @99.88 MPH, with a 2.129 60' time. 4th run was shabby and i launched at too low an RPM and rolled out a whopping 14.8

I used some of the internet calculators my 100mph and 2710lb weight works out to a roughly 13.8 quarter mile, so 13.7 is "ok" I guess?

Currently the car weighs approx 1150kg, I'm another 80+ on top of that. It ran 190 something HP on the ASG hub dyno with the Legacy GT 5 speed in it, haven't had it on since the dog box went in. The short ratios of this gearbox saw me crossing the line at 6000rpm in 5th , so clearly its not made for drag racing

here is my best run, the 13.7

and here is the misshift

(still processing as of 10.42pm)

You might be able to knock off 0.1 of a sec if you ditch the water bottle, Matt.

I want a box like yours that I can smash into gear (or smash gear into... oooh sexual)
