Default First car GF8

Hi Guys im 17 and bought my first car a 1998 wrx GF8 for what i think is a steal of 5000 it has about 238k on the clock so it has done a fair few km's on it but it feels new. the plans are to put slightly biggers rims on it and maybe gain some HP soon. i am a apprentice mechanic so i have fixed the problems with the car thus far (leaking rockercover gaskets, halfmoons, and bolt seals, replaced top and bottom radiator hoses and have done a Full Major svc, all oils and liquids changed spark plugs and ht leads also put in a boost gauge and a sound system.

Tidy car. Nice 22b bonnet vents. What mods were you thinking of to increase hp? Don't forget to use upper engine cleaner (if you didn't know) works wonders. Also 4 pot brakes are a good upgrade if your thinking of more hp.
Enjoy your car and take it easy on the roads

On this note also, shoot me a pm if you happen to be interested in some 4/2 pot's Front & rear. Just removed from my 2006 WRX as I upgraded to Brembo's .

Hey mate, Firstly welcome to Perth-WRX..and awesome 1st car (sure beats my 1971 1302s VW Beetle! Lol).

If I could offer you one important piece of advice, it would be to get to know your car before you make it more powerful. It may sound boring, and I may sound like your parents... but a stock WRX is still a very quick car.

Firstly make sure your tyres and brakes are up to scratch, don't skint on these as they make a massive difference, secondly go do some advanced driver training at the RAC in your own car.. you will learn about the cars limits as well as your own... then suspension and other handling mods should come first before more power.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

Mitch

Hey red dradon 2002 im not quiet sure what mods to do just yet might just put a bigger turbo and Iintercooler lower the compression and run a hogher boost and also do brake and suspension work. It will be a little while before I do anything though. I have already used the upper engine cleaner through it makes a hell of a smoke cloud. I didnt now about the bonnet though... that it was a 22b bonnet. Must explain the intercooler sprayers. Lol

Thanks Slap Dash I may consider it. Would I need to change my master Cylinder over or would be okay. Not sure what I would need to change over. To work.
