The price sounds about right. The Mms guys don't like to over promise and will load a safe tune to the car. You can make more power with that gear if you want but the higher you go the higher are the chances of failure.

I would guess that you will end up with closer to 250 whp.

They say 220HP because when it makes 240HP you are super happy. They don't say 260HP only to make 240HP and then have you customer questioning the shop about where the promised extra power went.

It would just be the way they do buisness nothing wrong with that at all, just making sure they can deliver what is promised to the paying customer.

You should upgrade your dump pipe at the same time. Standard one will probably reduce your power by about 10 hp, but more importantly you'll hit full boost around 500rpm sooner with a 3 inch dump.
Standard intercooler will also reduce power by 10-15hp.

Lol, if he's paying $1500 for a second hand vf34 we have found someone thicker in the head than you.

Lol to those suggesting same power can be done cheaper.
MMS isn't a bang for buck workshop, if you want that I would be looking into second hand stuff and bunnings spec backyard mods with everything purchased off eBay.

If you want a fast reliable car, spend the cash on it. If its only something you'll keep for a year or so then flog off, do whatever you like to it.

That doesn't answer the question. It doesn't say he was looking at new only, he had been quoted a price for work to the car and that was the inferred pricing for the VF34.

Thats my point he doesn't have to pay that price for a turbo that can be had for less and still have a solid unit.

I am not a thickie or a tight-ass for suggesting the second-hand option. I am simply saying that it has been done before and has been proven to be a cheaper and reliable set-up.

Sorry for having an opinion on the internet, doesn't mean you have to be dick about it.

Go for it.
If you can afford to go new, why not!

Interested to hear how your first drive after install goes too.
