I have a VF46 that spools incredibly quickly and was pushing 213Hp on a standard zorst.

Yeah, add the fact that it was in a fairly light car ensured it was pretty handy on the street.

What sort of torque would you expect from a 2.5L with those mods?

2L 220hp ~ <350nm
2.5L 220hp ~ >400nm

It might not sound like like a lot of HP but more torque = better. Right?

Such a stupid comment. Why buy a new car when there's plenty of solid second hand ones floating around?

Your logic is herrrp derrrp. If he's got the cash why not buy new? Maybe if he listens to you we'll see a thread in a few months asking why there's smoke coming out of his zorst after his solid second hand jobbie blows a seal.

$1500 for a new VF34 isn't far off the average price I've ever seen for one, maybe you might catch someone having a sale for $1200 or so, its not like they are sub 1k and he's getting torn a new one.

It's not a stupid comment.

I was simply stating that there is no need to overpay for a turbo you can get second-hand for much less and you CAN find good examples. There are plenty of WRX's running second hand turbos without fault on PWRX.

I found a AVO450 for only $600 (I admit, it was a little too big) and that thing ran fine for my use with it and the next owner put it to good use on an EJ207 and made north of 300WHP on a modest tune.

Thanks Captain Obvious.

Is a pity he's not in the market for a secondhand turbo is it.

Where does it say "NEW VF34 ONLY"? Well he is in the market to modify a car and should address all his option before he sinks hard earned cash into it. IF the OP deems the risk of second-hands part too much for the savings then it is his choice to do so.
