@ Seagull so what you're saying is that it will be fine with the GT3071R Turbo but maybe perhaps tuned moderately? The guy who I bought the turbo from was running it with EJ205 and he had it in his car for a demo to potential buyers and we tried it before I bought it... he said it will be fine running at 18 PSI.

Do you think this is true? I will eventually get a rebuilt motor later on this year, still saving up for it and almost there but I was hoping to spend $6-7k with a strong bottom end and service the heads etc which according to my research seems to be what most people do but EVO R said anything GT30 above turbo would need a build EJ207 top to bottom and would cost $12k... is this true?

I was really hoping not to spend that much especially when I won't be going to tracks, it will be for daily street use and even then there will be very limited opportunity where I will drive really hard because of traffic etc. I only drive it to work and around for meetings etc, on the weekend I drive a family SUV coz my missus hates the noise LOL

Would be keen to really know your opinion on this because I really like the Turbo but want it to be running safely too.

Thanks Seagull

We find the Autronics to be very clunky, Link G4+ is the one to get.

Love my G4+ Thunder. Link g4+ is very popular among the WA tuners, so getting one means there is plenty of options for tuners.

The link g4+ platform is miles ahead of the power fc and possum link. (Which is a link ecu made for possum bourne rally originally. And is like a first gen link. G4+ is like 4.5 whole generations more advanced.)

Thanks guys,

Yeah decided to spend a bit more and get it done right, just a matter of selling my Power FC now and just trying to get something back from it... No Luck so far

What do you guys reckon about the GT3071R Turbo on the EJ205?

I would make sure you have enough money saved up for when things go wrong- or risk not being able to drive it while you save up to get it fixed.

My opinion is that 200-250atw kw is way too much for an unopened ej205 with a 5 speed transmission. I feel this would not be reliable. Why don't you ask some tuners about your intentions and see what they say. I think evo-R is correct on this one...

I missed the top post on my phone ( fuck off Tom )
Back in the day we only had the 205 V3 or V4 STI or the gen 2 GTB motor, before that was RS Liberty. You could get these to go hard with a tune or standard they were quite good. Most never played with the turbo until the V 7 STI came about vf34.

I put a 50 on What ever you do to your car Toms stock V3 libert blows your doors off.

The issue you have is its all old, cool but old.

I question some one saying the autronics is clunky, it's out dated to a moden ECU. But again many cars have them and they have no issues ASG tune them and get good results.

Look for a turbo that bolts straight up

Thanks guys for all the input

I've spoken to ASG and will do it with them on the Link ECU.

Later on this year will look at a built EJ207 with 6 Speed, still saving up and coming close

In the meantime though ASG reckon the EJ205 with the stock 5 speed will be fine as long as it's tuned properly and boost level set moderately.

I suppose I will have the full potential of the Turbo once the built engine and 6 speed goes in and another re-tune is done later this year.
