So was just reading a column by Noel Whittaker where he reminds everyone about the promises made at the 2007 election.
Yup that one with KRudd vs Johnny Howard. Well KRudd was to bring in all this awesome tax cuts for everyone and by this financial year the maximum tax rate for the country was to be 40%. So not only did we get a PM no one (originally nor a majority) voted for, we never got the tax breaks that were promised and infact now have more taxes than before. Those earning over $80k now pay more taxes than before, despite the wizardry of chaning the tax free thresholds etc. I found it quite interesting as I had forgotten about yet another broken election promise.

i'm sick of labor trying to get all the "low income earners"/dole bludgers/pensioners etc happy by splashing them with cash and yes i understand some people do need more help than others.
point is, even though im on a 100k+ salary once you take a 600k morgage into the account (standard house these days) you dont have a lot left over. i pay full price for electricity and train to get me to work and back, no discounts on shire fees/water rates...im not that much better off than someone living public housing + 2x dole payments. What's the incentive for us working people to work and pay taxes? How is it my fault that every 2nd rockingham 16 year old has 3 kids and no stable partner and no chance of ever working, is it my fault that she likes bending over for anyone with a pulse? why should most of us hard working individuals pay for that shit? as far as i care there is no proven link between carbon dioxide and climate change and anyone that is sceptical about this gets ridiculed. secondly there is no proof that extra tax will pay for new green energy. Why should i pay for this government's mistakes? Next year they'll introduce "clean air/oxygen thief" tax/levy as some of us are using more O2 than others

Quotes: CO2 represents 3.62% of green house gases Humans are responsible for 3.4% of the total amount of CO2 produced. Australia's contribution to WORLDWIDE CO2 production is 1.5% With China and India NOT participating in carbon tax / ETS all we are doing is lining the pockets of government more, whilst minutely impacting our 1.5% world wide contribution to CO2. Put simply, this policy forced on us by Julia will impact the level greenhouse gases in the atmosphere by about 1 millionth of one percent....yet according to "Frontier Modelling" will average out at $4550 per tax payer per year. Are these numbers correct? I don't know, but I certainly lean more towards these statements than those put forward by (pro) Carbon Tax BTW I DO support cleaner energy - switched to solar hot water 8 months ago, and have a 2kw PV system being installed in the next few weeks (site inspection happened today). I DON'T support the BS lies spurting out of this red head bitch's mouth. /end rant

So does anyone know where all this extra GST that gets paid by the consumer with their raised prices goes? Everyone forgot they are paying a flood tax too?
I don't have anything against going for a cleaner/greener future, even though the stats are questionable, just don't see why Mrs Ronald McDonald feels it necessary to create a tax...why "punish" them instead of creating initiative in the industry, fund some research or provide incentives for these companies to lower emissions? Surely these 500 businesses share similarities when it comes to what is causing their emissions so why can't they just fund a program to invent a new thingy to do the thingymabobby? Then if they don't comply within 3 years or so, they get hit with a 'carbon tax' and measures to ensure the cost is not passed on to the consumer without solid reasons. There's real incentive to act, knowing it will come out of their pocket. |

If they fed the combined bullshit produced by parliament and fed it back into the grid I think we'd have a viable and reasonably long term solution.

There are so many of us feeling like this - is there any way the public can force an election?
