You're forgetting the additional GST that will be collected once everyone raises their prices.

hehe, I'm not after a free steak.

I don't pay enough attention to politics to make an informed decision, nor do I really care that much about it. Tony Abbot just shits me to tears every time I have to see his face. I'v never seen him make a worthwhile suggestion, all I ever see him do is criticise others.

I much prefer to see anyone take action then to sit back, do nothing and criticise everyone else.

The carbon tax doesn't phase me either for some reason. Sure it might be a complete load of bollocks. But the government wants more money and is going to get it somehow. The mining tax failed so they looked elsewhere. If it doesn't go through, we will just some other type of tax.

What I will find interesting, is if the tax goes through and the liberal government takes over power in the next election. Will they abolish the tax all together? Or will they reap in the benefits of the tax and claim all the credit for their new found wealth?

That's the problem with most Aussie's - so laid back that we bitch and moan about shit but then don't do anything about it.

I mean I cannot fathom how in a (supposedly) democratic society that a government can do a complete 180 on a position stated before an election and not have to go back to the polls. It's about time pollies are held accountable to their election promises.

In any other private practice, the company director/s would be raped by the ACCC, ASIC, or whomever else.

I haven't bitched or moaned about the tax.

Out of curiousity, what have all of those who have, done about it? - besides bitch and moan.

What can you do? Riot and protest like they do in egypt? Become a 'freedom fighter' like the africans? or find a black guy to pass all the blame onto so one never gets elected again?

I believe the sensible option is quite simply, if you don't like it, don't vote for labor. If Australians truly oppose this carbon tax that much, labor will not get re elected for a long time. In the grand scheme of things, the 2 years left of their term is hardly going to hurt anyone.

If Labor do get in again, I hardly see it as being more than a petty complaint.

Doing right now:
  • Sharing videos/news on FB to spread the word, joining FB groups
  • Try to suggest "areas of interest" with those that don't pay enough attention to politics to make an informed decision, nor do really care
  • Write letters & send emails to local pollies
In the past:
  • Attended rallies
  • Added pages to website with an image link in banner
Next on agenda:
  • Include an info DVD with every order dispatched

Herein lies the problem with your argument...Labour went into the election with the statement "there would be no carbon tax under (their) government". People voted. Julia does a 180.

I've never voted for Labour in my life. Tony Abbott may be a tool, but the liberal party have a much better track record with fiscal policy

You made a very good point there, except for the whole 'joined groups on facebook' thing...

And yes I agree, it is poor form to do that 180. How poor it is will ultimatly be decided with how long it takes for people to vote labour again.

If the people truly hate the decision that much, liberals will be in power for a very long time making all the fan boys happy. Looks like a winning situation?

For the record, I'm not a labour fanboy. I have voted for liberals in the past when I prefered their policies / leaders and will do so again if they are my prefered party at the time.

No matter who is in power, 40%-60% of the population is always going to be unhappy with decisions on how money has been used, abused, unused, and any new laws and taxes that are introduced.

After a lengthy run of terms for Liberal there really needed to be a single term of Labor to break things up a bit and help with equilibrium over the long term. Two to three terms of Liberal, one of Labor, rinse, repeat. You can't have a continual run of Government that is forever "saving money" and sitting on it. The country would go nowhere. Conversely, it's a fine line between being a tightwad and splurging so freely that you send the country down the shitter. Liberal haven't got a good history of spending on areas such as health and education either, which is why I didn't vote for them this time around. There were some good education initiatives and funding when Krudd was in power, both of which helped the two schools I have taught at.

ps. Abbott is a bat-shit crazy religious conservative.

ANYONE who thinks the carbon tax will not be passed down, is seriously mistaken. We are looking at building soon, here is my email to them, self explanatory, and their response. WTF?? I hate this tactic and will avoid this company.

I voted for Labor against my gut feelings (always vote liberal) because I could not vote for Tony. I didn't see anything viable in what he was bringing to the table. Oh god, what did I do? Got the fool instead of the joker....

Really close. Upstairs, need to extend the bathroom along to where the WIL is too – and add a bath. The wardrobe will be in the sitting room (of course we would have to get you to quote on fit out. Other than that, it is looking good.

We are about 6-8 months away from being ready to sign or make a final decision. I just wanted to be clear on this!

Thank you very much.

Hi Sherri

That’s not a problem. If you decided to go ahead soon it would take 3-5 months before we could start your new home. Please note with the possible introduction of the Carbon Tax and the 6 star energy efficiency being introduced shortly this could increase the house prices between $10-15k. Talk to you soon.

kind Regards
