Default Current WA demerit laws.

What are the current demerit laws?
For both p and non p platers.

More than 3 (less than 12) in your first year
=3 month cancelation

More than 5 (less than 12) in your first two years
=3 month canelation

(after holding your licence for more than 2 years, but if your still on green p's you can gain up to 7)
Whats the ruling for more than 12? 24? Or more than 36 demerits in your first two years? (green p's)

Demerit / Penalty Points12 demerits points with the points returning 36 months after loss. Thus, maximum 12 points in 3 years.

thats not for probies.....

Graduated demerit points

Basically on your first year you can have up to 3 demerits, if you get 4 (or more) you are disqualified for 3 months and license cancelled.

Between year one and year 2 you can have up to 7 points, get to 8 (or more) and the same penalties apply.

Beyond 2 years you are on an ordinary license as outlined in GTB Liberty's posy.

Totally agree on this.
A car is potentially a weapon when being driven, there are no excuses for running a red light as we have yellow/amber lights designed to give the motorists enough warning.

Most people that lose their license generally deserve it anyway.... I'm gonna start using the go pro every trip soon to help name and shame and get some of the dickheads off the road....

If a novice driver can't manage to not speed and not run red lights for a year, they don't deserve a license.

Remember a license is not a right, it is a privilege.

Also, you can accrue 3 points in your first year, it is on the 4th point that you lose the license. So you can make a 'mistake' and learn from it.
