Yep - ran off the road just before the Mundaring Weir hotel on Friday arvo. He was probably pushing it too hard as he did an extra lap at RAC in the morning, adding another 60sec to his stage time - D'OH!! Who said Evo's drive themselves?

Wow! Thanks for posting up that pic. That's without doubt the best pic of my car ever! Cheers. I had no idea it was on three wheels at the time, I knew it was going to get close to the kerb but kept into it regardless. To be fair to the competitiors, me and Franz were both just f**king around, the others had spend over $10 grand and were on the last few stages of a long rally so they would obviously not want to do anything as stupid as we were. I was however somewhat disapointed at the lack of commitment on the Zig-Zag stage. Only a handful of drivers elected to perform a handbrake turn, more did three point (even one 5 point) turns instead.

The front of my car does not normally look so bunky. We fitted mesh over the radiator, a sacrificial bumper without any fog covers, an old steel bonnet, old early headlights, grille and indicators etc as well. Each service we were touching up the stone chips with spray cans. When you get right up close behind cars on country stages with sticky tyres the front of the car gets raped by stones. The windscreen looks like it's been through a hilstorm. The camera they use has a wide lens that really needs to be no more than 2-3 metres away for the shot to be any good. We don't know how good the shots are until they get back to Sydney and go through it all and edit the DVD.

We chased Mark's A9X through the Coondle stage and he left us for dead. I did pretty much a drag racing launch off the line behind him and he just pulled further and further away. I got back up a bit under brakes at the first 90 deg corner but by the exit I was a good 60 metres back and he just cleared out from there. By 2 km we could no longer see him and pulled over. The GT-R we followed got 60 metres ahead by the time I had got second gear to the limiter, just bullshit fast off the line. We only caught him eventually because he was in the challenge category and limited to 130 kp/h. My car still has the 34mm inlet restrictor in place, and I had thought of removing it. I decided in the end to leave it alone as I didn't want to sacrifice any durability for the sake of a bit more power. It's a proven combination/tune and it was suficient to do the job in the end.

Not a problem, i have a few others of you there and at a different stage, i'll post those tomorrow. i do have 2 photos that aren't in focus, if they were... The first is of the NSW Evo X with a flame out of the exhaust, the second is not as bad, (may post anyway) same corner on the second last page, with the Torrie driving out of the corner, and you on a good opposite lock prior to hitting the curb.

BTW You bastard, got to drive some of the stages, stood where you wanted to take some photos, and had a ball, very jelious(?) One day...
