...and there is your dilemma.
I've made the choice the skip these events (as much as I really want to do it). Each to their own but don't overlook the safety issues. I'm happy to "risk it" against the kerbs, poles, bollards & other permanent objects at the motorplex that you need to dodge, but the temporary concrete barriers are an issue (for me).

Whats the point of competing if your going to dawdle along at 80% pace - may as well save the entry fee and go hit Obrien road.
I see Freds point. How many people here are happy to throw away 70k by putting a car into a barrier? My car is worth 1/10th of that and even I cant afford to throw that away
