I'm not sure I want to see it slowed down Brendon. I think if you cap the speed, a supercar still hits 200kmh very quickly and can still send you flying off into the bush very quickly. Not sure the result will be much different at 200 or 250.... Had an interesting chat with Stuart Benson as well about chicanes and other devices. As he put it, a chicane can turn a safe straight stretch of road into a dangerous one. Tassie is lucky though as its not as hard to keep the average speed down.

As much as I would hate to see the field diluted into more classes, a supercar class does seem to make sense to some degree, given the current dominance of the lambo. I didn't bother with Modern as i knew we could never afford a competitive car. Not that i would expect to be up there with the big guns in that class, but its nice to know you are at least in the same race. I guess they could classify the modern cars a bit like they are doing in showroom where there are purchase price brackets, or maybe 1-100 figures to classify a car as a super car. It would be nice to see the the STI's, EVO's, Audi TTRS etc and cars of a similar ilk that some of us can afford, being in contention in a class. (I guess it might already exist in the guise of showroom) Also still nice to see the exotica out there going for outright glory. The sound and sight of them getting punted hard is a great crowd pleaser. Although they equally seem to like to see an old V8 blazing its tyres.

I think you just need to choose you class and your car and get out there and have some fun. That will be my approach. Make an affordable classic that can fry tyres, make heaps of noise and belch fireballs, and possibly scare the christ out of me. I dont think it will be a match for the wolf in sheeps clothing porsches, but it should be fun. I dont think you will ever take money out of motorsport. There will always be someone with deeper pockets, better resources etc who will be able to build "a better mousetrap" and be tough to compete against. Its kind of what I feel Nemo has done to time attack. The bar has been raised that high its difficult to see someone with the resources and inclination to build something better, so you are just going to be turning up and racing for second or hoping for a mishap....much like the modern field in targa at the moment.

Have heard some positive feedback on the virtual chicanes used in conjunction with the rally safe system, ie slow to X kph in a 100m zone. So there is now left and right wiggle, and less damage to the road surface.

Agreed. The virtual chichanes are a fantastic idea. Als takes away the need for marshalls in that area as well as the BS rule about hitting a marker adding 30 seconds.

Just had a look at targa adelaide results which are now final.Rullo was originally listed as 3rd subject to technical investigations and now he is at the bottom of the results listed as withdrawn. So you got to think Rullo was asked to withdraw to save getting excluded
Quinn still listed as 2nd

Interesting. I also heard that he had more than 1 irregularity and Quinn only had 1 so maybe that had something to do with the different treatment....although I was told they were getting the same treatment...
