they're standard on Mecedes Benz

I have Hancook Ventus K104, very happy with them (about $330/corner @ wheels world).

He bought them from midland tyre wholesalers. It turns out that 225/40/ZR18 92Y cost $255 fitted and balanced there... OUCH.

The r-comp type pattern is mainly on the inside and outside so they look pretty cool from the outside but no they aren't overly noisey at all. John (wheels world) said that they are great for a scooby as the dont promote under steer in the car and if anything, go against it. Took it for a fang last night and they are mint in the twisty bits. If you can afford slightly more, he had the next tyre up from them (cant remember what they were) get them instead, John knows his shit.

You can use them but they cost a shit load and they are so soft, you will go through them in no time. Soft enough for you to cut into it with your finger nail.

I've decided to get the Nexen n3000. Was quoted $170 per corner and have searched the net and haven't found anything really bad about them, even though they are made in Korea, not USA. Most of the responses are positive because they are cheap and they do a good job for street driving and occasional street driving with little noise. All i gotta do now is put them on, try them out and hope they are as good as they say they are.
