Default Spec C Fuel Pump

Okay. Currently I have a Walbro fuel pump in the my V5 Sti RA. I have massive surging issues on the track etc so I want to buy the STI one with the small collection tank. Apart from anything else this will mean I can run 30ltrs less fuel.

I found this one on japan parts.

https://www.japanparts.com/db/partsl...=1005G-029-060

Part number - 1005G-029-060

My question is does anyone know if there are any differences in the fuel pump itself to the original oe one. I.e. if it is a standard pump I will take it out and put in my existing walbro one.

When I spoke to RT some time ago about putting in a proper surge tank and a bosch pump they said they would have to tweak the tune. Hence the reason why I am asking about this pump.

If you went to something like a Bosch 044 which is a 600hp pump then I could see how you might want to check your fueling but a 500hp Walbro shouldn't cause issues.

I'm currently running Walbro with anti-surge collector and can run under 1/4 tank without any surge issues.

Also check with JWS, they sometimes have the surge tanks available but it's hit and miss.

im pretty sure its a stock STI pump, the magic is in the little surge box around the pickup and the fuel return which also points at the pickup to reduce surge

Mine works fine..

Had to modify it a bit as the whole assembly from a JDM car to a ADM car is a bit different. While i was at it, i chucked in a Walbro, it was apart at the time so what the hell.

The assembly has two fuel line feeds where's the ADM car's have three lines.

Also one of the fuel lines (the return) send fuel back into the box itself.

If you want pictures, i have a few floating about.

Thats what I thought as well. When it gets here I will swap the pumps over with my current walbro.

Better still replace the damn thing with a new one. For the sake of $150 or so do the job right while the whole assembly is out.

Probably not a bad idea but the walbro was supplied by race torque (i.e. i bet it is genuine) and the car has only done less than 2000k since it was installed.

The 180LPH 300kpa pump is the uprated STi aftermarket one & is not fitted standard to any STi model.

I used to get bad surge on mine with anything less than half a tank, stuck a Walbro in it & at the same time an old STI sock I had instead of the crappy 90% walbro one, hasn't spluttered once since & I think it was more the sock than the pump that stopped it cutting out on corners, even with 10L it's fine belting it around corners, might be worth having a look at the sock before you spend too much.
