you could always try TENAGAH MOTORSPORT as they sell x-force systems. my cousin got one fitted to his v6 sti and is wrapped with it.

is there actually any diff in the exhaust note between a stainless and mild system ?

have heard that titanium can sound a bit tinny, but have never heard one before. I would say that it would have a lot to do with the density of the metals. Copper apparently reverberates quite loudly.
main difference is in teh longevity of the system. stainless should last forever, mild steel will rust/corrode quicker.
