06 sti struts, some 'mild' lowered springs and it'll ride great and look the business.

Thanks mate.

I'd honestly stick with fixed struts and lowered springs. It will be much nicer in general, and there's no point going hard with coilovers, the Forester will be dynamically challenged in handling like a wrx/sti so no point trying to make it go that way, instead go for a decent drop and a comfy ride. I opted for this when we lowered my wifes old GT Forester, it was a very compliant ride and looked awesome. IMHO the dampening offered by coilovers (unless spending the BIG bucks) will be a step backwards in comfort for the sake of ride height.

I've got some cusco's in the libbo which im happy with as i don't mind a firm/siff ride (yes even on softer settings), but i don't think i could handle that sort of ride in a bigger cabin such as the forester. All personal taste, maybe score a ride with some forester owners and get some feedback/education before taking the plunge.

Good luck.

if you have VDC on your XT, this may complicate your choices?
