Default Boost controllers - bleed valves

Are the bleed valve type controller any good?
Looking at a simple turbosmart gated valve..

The skyline guys have some thing against them saying they have boost spikes etc

Yeah they are ok for the money. Go to SkylinesAustralia forum and search for Turbotech and buy one of theirs for $35.

bleeding the clutch lines gets air out of the pipes after flushing the lines, but that has absolutly nothing to do with boost controllers...

if you wind it up too much, it will lean out in general
ie overboost, and not enough fuel to compensate
this is a mechanical boost controller, which doesn't actually allow the car to pump fuel to compensate for the extra "air" going in

but, if you keep the boost to around 15/16 psi, you should be ok
plus, the stock ECU will stop you from overboosting past 16psi anyway, due to boost cut
