hahaha rofl

front mount is a replacement intercooler - by having the intercooler at the front of the car rather than over the top of the engine, you are severely cutting heatsoak, but causing a little more lag due to more piping. most high-hp wrx's use front mounts.

I still have the Stock Top Mount.

The top mount can still handle 20psi with out any probs.

It all really depends on what numbers your want to achieve.

As i said before stick with the VF43 and get a tune done and see if you like the results. You may be surprised with little to no mods what the 2.5L with the V43 can handle.

thankyou for your advise... i like the top mount intercooler its neat. All sti's have them and especially with the intercooler water spray why rip it all off it seems silly.

yes water spray helps with heatsoak - but if your intercooler is not sitting over the engine, it is going to be alot cooler -- heat from the engine rises etc...

Are you the dude Sam and I came over and fixed your boost leak issue then went for a blat and a photo shoot at the river?

If so, your car is fast enough for a beginner. Its probably already making around 180-190kw atw according to my bum dyno.

Get some handling mods like front and rear sway bars then take it to an AHG day and get to know your car a bit better.

If you're dead set on more power, I wouldn't bother with any IHI bolt on turbo. Go straight to a AVO450.
You could probably screw another 20kw more out of the current turbo, but it'll still be kind of lazy up high rpm like it is now.

The car already has an ECUTek tune in it with an MRT XB kit so no point suggesting or even looking into Verso. They will not touch it once ECUTek has already cracked the ECU.

The license fee has already been paid anyway so a retune cost will be similar for ECUTek as Verso anyway.

Do not do major mods without a retune. You don't get the full benefit of the mod regardless and you may do permanent damage to your engine.

Unless you are building a drag car or a show pony you are wasting your time thinking what will give me the maximum outright horsepower. If thats your line of thinking go get a normally aspirated Honda screamer. You want to develop the maximum torque in the midrange where you will spend 99% of your time driving the thing.

I have done a bit more reading... tell me what you guys think.

POD Filter + Fuel Pump

Then book it into Race Torque to get the ECUTek software retuned. Is the car safe to drive to race torque to get retuned after the parts are installed if I just cruise it, or will it have to be transported?

I'm only after another 40kw.
