Just get them to do the install and tune at the same time or it might go BANG!

hahahahaha

normal driving aint gonna damage it from simple mods
if you drive it like you're in a race, maybe

most of the time a car will run fine if you bolt on parts, but CAN cause damage if you thrash it. Getting a tune is good to get the most out of your car. Eg this is why cars with verso and little to no mods have more power than a stock tune

^^^ Lay down the crackpipe sunshine.

GD's react differently to mods than GC8's. Change the exhaust, car runs richer, bores get washed, bang. That is why people do not recommend driving on untuned mods. Even 'normal' driving will do this.

Also, 40kW is a mighty big increase... what makes you think this is achieveable with a fuel pump and an intake?

Would a cat back XForce on an MY05 STi cause richness concerns?

Cat back should be fine im sure its only when you do a TBE
a tune is needed due to the change in exhaust pressure/flow.

What do you recommend... just put in the AV0450 or 500 turbo? Shouldn't fuelpump and pod come first though?

How much increase would I expect to achieve from just pod, fuelpump and ECUTek Tune?

POD Filter + Fuel Pump

Then book it into Race Torque to get the ECUTek software retuned. Is the car safe to drive to race torque to get retuned after the parts are installed if I just cruise it, or will it have to be transported?

I'm only after another 40kw.
A pod on an 06STi isn't really going to make much difference and is a defect if not done properly. The fuel pump is a good thing to do as a safety thing but will not give you more power.

Give Race Torque ( Or MMS if you choose them ) a call BEFORE you do anything. Tell them exactly what is on the car already and seriously consider any advice that they give you.

yeh take it to a workshop, tell them your power goals and what you use the car for, how much you are willing to spend, and let them do ALL the work and make all the decisions

I rang Maximum motorsport and spoke to daniel... Race Torque were not answering their phone. He told me to go VF34, fuelpump and ECUTek tune.

I asked him if we could put a AVO450 in the car, he said he wouldnt without an engine rebuild. Is anyone running an AVO450 in a MY06 STI running standard pistons and shafts?
