5psi is limp mode.

Causes could be:

#1 bad batch of fuel or filled with regular unleaded (most common cause) knock causes the ecu to go into engine preservation mode (with no check engine light).

#2 waste gate solenoid frozen closed = 5-6 psi wastegate pressure....seen this 3 times on high milers

#3 faulty knock sensor ....Early ones used to crack pretty regularly and send false info to the ecu (usually indicated by a check engine light though)

#4 O2 sensor issues can cause limp mode also.

#5 semi flat battery can cause the ecu to go into limp also.

HTH

Do an ecu reset on it and see if it comes good or quickly defaults back to 5 psi limp.

Interested in this myself Gerry as ive been told that a battery disconect for a period of time followed by pressing the brake pedal to discharge the ecu will reset it
but others have said it can only be done via a subaru select monitor or similar device

Just an observation.

You know you can just make another post in one of your other 6 threads this week instead of starting a new one for every car you look at?
