Terry are you 100% confident the AFM you loaned Dave was good? I logged the codes prior to him unplugging the AFM and there were 2 codes relating to AFM. I just drowns in fuel, to the point that it almost stalls the engine, the whole back of the car is black with soot. Has a good cond top mount and I plugged the BOV so air leaks are unlikely.
What is the symptom/remedy for faulty AVCS filters?

rough idle or wide open throttle like a misfire -
remedy = remove and discard the two filters on the control valve ends of the oil feed pipes inside the banjo bolt as the oil pressure pushes the filter down inside the banjo bolt effectively blocking the oil flow into the control valve.
would not be the problem here tho if there is evidence of excess fuel

0.7 hours to do that, Dreaming! You can't even see those union screws without dismantling a load of stuff. Add to that they have just told you to warm the engine up to over 80 celsius to burn yourself on the oil.
I'd like to see a dealer do that much work (including oil and filter change) out of warranty and only charge 42 minutes of labour. More like 4 hours.

Default misfire

The car felt better with the new afm when he went for a drive, but it was still misfiring,I think overfuelling is still the main problem,he has got 550cc injectors with the standard wrx computer which is tuned for the blue 440's.
