Default Boost Surge under load

Hey guys, long time reader, first time poster. Have yet to post anything because everything i have needed was easily accessible by using the search function but unfortunately i could not find a threads specific enough to the problem i was getting today.
My bug eye is having problems with boost, basically i get a large spike through 3rd and 4th gear during WOT and only sometimes in 2nd. This morning after dropping to second and accelerating hard my engine light lit up (i assume this is a CEL but correct me if im wrong) . Started my car 3 times and the light went off. Just noticed the surge/spike on the freeway this arvo.
Mods are:
3’’ TBE
Intake resonator removed
Walbro pump
Verso about 2 months ago
Problems only started today although the engine light has come on before after high revs.
Thanks in advance

Sounds like boost cut - Is it cuttin out just as the CEL comes on (Yes, this is Check Engine Light) .. If this is the case i'd be looking very hard around your turbo, in particular the wastegate lines to ensure the wastegate is opening bleed excess boost.

This same thing happened to me - Easy fix if its the same with you. From memory, the boost cut CEL disappears after 5 engine restarts.

When this was happening to me, turned out that my TMIC was rubbing againt one of the wastegate lines and cut it. Equalled a shitload of boost!

Easy...it's got Verso...so take it back to Sean and get him to check it out rather than speculate on public fora... Amen.

^^ WHS.

Let ASG read the CEL code and determine the problem.

It's probably just the cold weather, happens to mine because the boost is set close to maximum on a warm tune/day then it gets a gut full of nice cold dense air & doesn't like it.

could be the cold weather but it doesnt seem to be surging past 16 in second but 3rd,4th and 5th is pretty bad at high speeds. had a look at the houses related to the wastegate actuator as mentioned by RichX and it looked like the house between the turbo inlet pipe and the ..boost solenoid?(not sure what it is called exactly but it the mechanism that regulates the pressure of the wastegate hose) has been damaged by the heat from the turbo. Would replacing this resolve anything?

just an update for future reference.
Had a look under the bonnet over the weekend and noticed that the blow off valve return hose had been jammed between the BOV and the plenum. Fixed this and replaced the wastegate actuator house that seemed to be damaged from heat.
Seems to have solved the problem.
Thanks for everyones help
