Default Starting troubles

Hey all,

I have a 99 wrx, basically changed the alternator on my car, replaced the battery and checked the earth for the starter motor and what's happening is when car is cold or not driven in say 8 or more hours or so i have to jump start it ?? i have had the same stereo gear in it for over a year now and has been fine but over the past month or so cranks over so slowly and most of the time just ends up straining the battery an needing another jump start
yet once its been running for a while and gotten hot it seems to start ok, but still cranks over sluggish ..
just wondering if any one has had similar problems or can shed some light on this ever so annoying problem!!

Have you hads the battery checked when its running with a volt meter ie turning on and off and see if its your alternator or the battery casuing the problem??

When its running try turn everything on and see if you window wipers seem to go slowly....

If so it will be your alternator not sending enough charge to your battery...

Check your remote wire if you have an amplifier, see if it is still all connected properly, otherwise the amp is draining your battery. Happened to me before.

Do you have a multimeter?
If so, remove the earth from the battery, switch your multimeter to Amps and hook the probes to the earth wire and negative batt terminal.
you should only be pulling ~50 milliamps (0.05A) or so for the alarm/immobiliser.

if you are getting 0.5A or above, start pulling fuses one by one, and find when the current drops....start by looking at the stereo, alarm (unoriginal items)

You could have wires that have cut through the insulation on a sharp corner.

good luck.
