Default HELP !!! Clunk At 4th Gear !!!

Hey guys

I have jus bought my 01 Bug Eye rexy about 2 weeks ago.

I have noticed that if I change from 3rd to 4th at about 60~65Ks, it shifts fine.

But if I shift up to 4th at about 70k~ 80kss, the gears just clunks, like gears

grinding. Is this normal cos I change up at such a high speed or is it time for

me 2 change my trannie oil?

Cheers Guys

I am very new to this scene, what is a sychro? Can it be fixed?

My service is due next month, will probably change it then.

Synchromesh is the type of gear selecting used by the gearbox as opposed to a dog engagement setup. It can be replaced, not so much as 'fixed'.

Yeah if its your sychro its gearbox off and stripped down....

I would try some new gearbox oil and see how you get on either way your box is worn just not out of the game just yet...

Yea haha replace, thats what I mean. Yea I am gonna try changing the oil first.
Is it worth it to replace the synchro or shud I jus start savin up for a new box?

How much would it be to be replaced and how much would a new box cost?

Thanks guys

Id be fairly hesitant to change the oil if its bad. Redline is worth about $200-300 for a refill of it not including labour. if its still rooted, you have wasted about $300. Doesnt seem very resourceful

How hard are you shifting when it clunks?......Ripping it in or slow shifting?

Tecnique issue?
