Use the same size wire core (or slightly larger) that is on the harness you wish to extend.

Coventrys, Repco, Jaycar ftw.

You can also buy sheathed multi core cable to simplify things (look at www.narva.com.au )

Stace do all the wires from the brown plug need this wire? Are the wires from the black plug alright to use standard wire?

So I can get all this gear from jaycar then?

You could try and get another set of plugs and sockets from some left over harnesses (from jws maybe) and make 2 extension leads.

soldering is the best way to do it...

but only for those you know how to solder correctly.

Mate, just for a little bit of advice, id use some raychem heatshrink. Usually electrical wholesalers have it. Its used industrially and has a special waterproof sealant within the heatshrink itself. Last thing you want is water to get inside it and create all sorts of problems.

Personally I would run complete new harness rather than join them. Wire costs stuff all and then you will have less issues.

always solder! use a quality solder and you will be amazed at how strong it is. Buy it from Alberts or West Side

practise on a few different wires.

use the same guage wire as the one on the car.

Do one wire at a time.

Tripple check all connections

use heat shrink to insulate, no tape.

Work slowly do nut rush this!

you will be fine man

I extended some sections of the loom in the wagon when i was tidying up the bay. Solder and shrink wrap by default. I didn't touch the crank or cam angle sensors which i believe is what stace is referring to. I've got 90% of the original loom from the ADM chassis here that may be useful.
