Default Extending engine bay loom

Since the engine is out looking at extending the wires from the two main plugs off the engine bay loom i.e brown and black plug.

Now is there a special coated wire that can be bought?? Also to extend each wire is it better to just twist the wires together and then shrink a plastic coupler of them??

Where to buy the necessary hardware??

Dont really know what your talkin about but if your are extending wires you cant just twist them together and heatshink over that. They will need to be soldered and then heatshrunk over for best results. I can show ya how to do it if ya want. Could also borrow a slodering iron aswell if needed. The rest is pretty easy to buy.

So whats stopping them coming apart without solder? Solder is strong mate. You could use crush clips i suppose but doesnt give a good a contact as soldered wires.

Yeh use crush clips asfaik. There ate plenty of people with shaved engine bays in the u.s whom have extended there wires. I'm just wondering if it will affect anything when high up in the rpms? May get a breakdown of signal?

You absolutely DO solder the wires but AFTER twisting them together...... don't forget to slip a piece of heat shrink over one half first!

Finally cover the loom with convaluted tubing to finish it off neatly.

Don't use Crimped wire joiners they fail with vibration.

If the wiring is anything to do with engine management soldering is the only way to do it.....
Otherwise you run the risk of introducing false readings through resistance and/or sensor voltages (i.e cam & crank sensors that generate less than .2 of a volt in operation)
