Default Engine Whine

Hi Guys,

Am new to the forum, has a quick search for engine whine but my problem seems a little differant.

Engine intermittently whines in tune with engine revs, from idle through to high revs, similar to a broken power steering pump, took it into Subi and they couldn't find any issue.

Have checked the pumps and belts but can't find any issues myself, Any thoughts on what else to check would be appreciated

Car is a 2002 bug-eye with no mods

how many km's has the car done?
and have you had a service or something not long before it started making the noise?

air-con compressor, alternator, gearbox, diffs, hubs, wheel bearings, Mrs, stereo.

Does it do it at idle? chuck a screw driver in your ear.

car has done 140,000kms and service was done about 2 months before it started. All servicing has been done by City Subi so doubt they have changed anything from the normal routine.

Yeah the whine is there at idle, may have to pull out the screwdriver and check everything

Just a thought....does it happen when the radio is on? Or is this something that you can hear both inside and the out?
